Pausing at the Threshold: In-Gathering and Gathering of the Waters Service

We stand together on a new threshold in the life of this congregation and perhaps in our own lives. Threshold moments are holy moments that remind us of where we have been, where we are, and where we want to be. How do we approach known or unanticipated times of transition? What can we do in these invited or uninvited pauses in our familiar routines?

Gathering of the Waters Ritual: Included in this service is the annual Gathering of the Waters ritual. Please bring a small amount of water from a special place or even your own home to pour into our common bowl.
One difference in the ritual this year: your water can represent any ONE of the following:
(a) A place that you’ve experienced this summer and what it means to you
(b) A “life storm” (minor or major) that you are navigating
(c) A “wellspring” in your life: what nurtures and sustains you
