Children’s Religious Education
We have nursery care and a children’s religious education program from pre-K to high school.
The 2011-12 school year began Sept. 2011 and runs to June 2012. Registration is $25 per child. The funds are used for materials and to defray the costs of background checks of our teachers. If this amount would create a financial hardship, please contact Kate Weber or Ann Rostosky.
The classes are taught on a volunteer basis by members of the community. Classes are held between 10:50-11:30 a.m., during Sunday services. The program is meant to provide children with an understanding of Unitarian Universalism, and the many experiences that reside in our religious community. Children start in the Sunday service and are sung out of the service after the Message for All Ages. The curriculum this year focuses on Holidays and Holydays of world religions. The focus of the Holy days is linked to our core Unitarian Universalist beliefs. Topic examples include: Sukkot, Diwali, St. Francis Day, John Murray, Mabon, and UN Sunday.
In June 2012, we will run the popular Unitarian Universalist Chalice Camp. It is a week long evening summer religious program for young people in grades K trough 6.
Each summer, we run a short curriculum to cover the months of July and August. Classes run from 10:20 to 11:00, during the Summer service. Summer 2012, will focus on children and social action topics.
