Three members of Thomas Paine joined 13 other UU from area congregations who aided the recovery efforts in New Orleans during the first week of February. They helped construct, refurbish, and paint homes, take care of abandoned pets, rebuild baseball fields, and lots of other things.
Below is a message from Ms. Gwendolyn, a New Orleans resident working to rebuild her home of 25 years. She has lived in a FEMA trailer for 3-plus years, splitting her time between the Big Easy and Chicago, where her sister Peggy lives.
