Summer is in full swing and unlike most years when most families take acation and things slow down a bit at the Fellowship, this month the ctivity is heating up just like the temperatures.
Most important is the renovation that will be taking place in the sanctuary see Sue McKeone’s article for details). Although the Aesthetics and Building Committees will be coordinating the work, every congregant should pitch in and help when asked. This task is too much of a burden for just a
few people to handle.
The sanctuary/outdoor project will be fully funded thanks to your generous contributions and a $35,000 loan which the Finance Committee recommended and the Board approved last month. The papers were officially signed last Monday and the money was deposited into the capital
money market account where it will earn interest to offset the amount we ultimately pay.
The Settled Minister Search Committee (SMSC) is also working hard this summer. Among their many tasks, they have put together an extremely impor tant sur vey that will define the qualities we want in a minister (See Marian Augustine’s article for details). I strongly urge you to complete this
sur vey when it is given out later this month. It is vital to the search process and ultimately to our congregation’s long term vitality.
With the departure of Rev. Larry Smith, the Program Committee is doing an excellent job of lining up speakers and outside ministers to provide Sunday sermons. Rest assured that we are continuing to search for an interim or consulting minister that can ser ve the congregation until we hire a settled minister later next year.
I would like to thank everyone for continuing their commitment over the summer during this truly exciting time in the life of our community.
